Fall Out Boy/Black Cards frontman Pete Wentz has finally released a statement regarding his divorce from Ashlee Simpson. In case you haven’t been keeping up on the situation, the couple announced their split last month and have reportedly been in talks about who will retain custody of their two-year-old son Bronx, however Wentz seems to be taking the high road in this delicate situation.

“Ashlee’s been my best friend for five years, she’s mothered my child; I’ve nothing but love and respect for her,” Wentz revealed yesterday during an interview with Ryan Seacrest on KIIS-FM. “Going through something like this isn’t easy but we’re friends and the most important thing is to put our son first.”

On another positive note, Wentz also expressed gratitude that his divorce announcement was overshadowed by the antics of a certain Hollywood star. “It’s like the one time on earth I’ve been like, ‘Thank God Charlie Sheen exists,’” he joked at one point during the interview, proving he hasn’t lost his characteristic sense of humor.
