It seems as if every time we turn around Adele has achieved another milestone on the Billboard charts with 21 and despite the fact that there were six new entries in the top ten this week, the singer managed to return to the #1 slot after falling a spot or two in recent weeks.
.
To put this achievement in perspective one must consider the fact that this is the 68th week in the top 10 and she sold 75,000 copies this week to boost the album’s total sales to 9.3 million copies. Yup you read that number right, 9.3 million copies.
.
Adele was definitely bumped by her recent primetime special on NBC but regardless of the promotion, Adele has spent over 60 weeks in the top three and is now tied with the Saturday Night Fever and Purple Rain soundtracks for 24 non-consecutive weeks at the top of the charts.
.
Next up in her crosshairs are Fleetwood Mac’s Rumors, Harry Belafonte’s Calypso and the South Pacific Soundtrack, all of whom spent 31 non-consecutive weeks at the top of the charts. So what do you think of Adele’s latest milestone and do you think 21 could go on to become one of the biggest selling albums of all-time? Let us know in the comments section below as you listen to some Adele Radio.
