Pink and Rihanna are both edgy pop stars, right? Pink may be more eloquent and spend less time posting nude photos of herself smoking weed on Twitter, but when it comes to fashion both singers embody a sought-after style. Well, apparently there is something to that aforementioned eloquence. As Pink becomes the new face of Covergirl Rihanna has been rejected for a Nivea campaign.
.

Yesterday Pink announced that she will be a spokesmodel for Covergirl cosmetics. The singer joins fellow celebrities like Taylor Swift and Drew Barrymore, both of whom convey a fairly conventional look. Pink, meanwhile, will celebrate “beauty with an edge” in her campaign for the brand. Esi Eggleston Bracey, VP and General Manager of Covergirl, said in a statement, “Pink is a powerful and provocative role model, who has always been an advocate of individualism and making no apologies for who you are. That combination of irreverence and integrity is exactly what the Covergirl brand loves about her and identifies with.”

The singer’s first print ad for a new Covergirl mascara has already been shot and her campaign is set to debut this fall. Check out one of the photos below:

Rihanna, on the other hand, is apparently not so popular with the beauty product companies these days. Stefan Heidenreich, who recently took over Nivea’s parent company, Beiersdorf, recently told German media that an ad the singer shot last year should never have aired. Heidenreich said, “The advert starring Rihanna was a no go. I do not understand how Nivea can be brought into association with Rihanna. Nivea is a company which stands for trust, family and reliability.”

Snap. Looks like Rihanna won’t be doing any more ads for Nivea any time soon. You can watch her commercial for the brand from last year below:
