The Secret Shows concert series made a triumphant return last Sunday night at The Key Club in Hollywood. A sold-out crowd arrived early, stretching over a block down West Sunset Boulevard. Fans excitedly anticipated the night’s headliners: R&B sensation Miguel and Def Jam’s newly signed songstress Jhene Aiko.

Secret Shows is a live music event featuring both on the rise and established superstar acts for a sponsored one-night showcase in a discreet location. Myspace users are invited to enjoy a night of live music in an intimate setting with some of their favorite acts. Some past performances include: My Chemical Romance, Paramore, Clipse, Ke$ha and John Mayer. This Secret Show is made possible by the makers of Trojan Charged condoms.

As fans awaited the night’s performances, memories were captured thanks to our photo booth (see photos – more photos below). Diana Wehbe of 99.1 KGGI warmed the crowd up, throwing out gifts and then introduced the evening’s opener, Jhene Aiko. Many may have come to the show not knowing the petite L.A. native, but Aiko delivered the performance of a lifetime, winning over fans and proving her worth as a Def Jam newbie.

Aiko dug deep into her critically acclaimed mixtape ‘Sailng Souls.’ She performed standout tracks like ‘Growing Apart,’ ‘Do Better Blues,’ and the heavily requested ‘Hoe.’ Fellow Def Jam recording artist Big Sean was seen vibing out in the crowd as well as BJ the Chicago kid. Aiko amazed the audience with her range, showmanship and sex appeal. Paying homage to her musical roots, she delivered a tribute to the legendary rapper Tupac. The crowd erupted into thunderous praise which set the tone for the rest of the night.

Miguel took center stage soon after, keeping everyone’s spirits high as he broke into his array of hit records. The singer blew fans away, singing favorites such as, ‘All I Want Is You,’ ‘Quickie’ and of course, ‘Sure Thing.’ Miguel had everyone hypnotized. Fans sang a long word-for-word and willingly participated in all of Miguel’s commands. With incredible dance numbers and heartfelt vocals, Miguel worked the room like the future legend he is.

The R&B crooner closed out his set by performing his new single ‘Adorn.’ The climax of the night was when Miguel announced a new untitled album, soon to be released. Everyone in attendance received personally designed artwork by Miguel as they exited the venue.

Concertgoers left excited for future Secret Shows which Myspace will definitely be putting on in the very near future.
