Last night, Jermaine Paul won the second season of “The Voice” on NBC. It’s been a long road for the R&B singer and it looks like his future is finally just beginning. From joining an quartet at 15, 1Accord, to doing backup vocals for Alicia Keys, there have been lots of performances along the way. But our first contact with Jermaine Paul was during the Myspace / Budweiser Opening Act competition last July. Take a look back with us at that video along with some of his performances from “The Voice.”
Paul became the NYC winner of the Myspace / Budweiser competition, and his performance of Bryan McKnight’s classic, “One Last Cry,” is a memorable one. The first clip we’ve got is his YouTube audition for the competition and the second is the NYC Finalist video.

Paul spent years working in the shadows of other great performers including Mary J. Blige, Joss Stone, Blackstreet, and Jaguar Wright. But over the course of the last couple of months, his dream to win a national competition that would land him a place in the spotlight finally came true. The next two videos feature the announcement of his win as well as his reprisal of his solo finale performance of R. Kelly’s “I Believe I Can Fly” after the win. Check them out and let us know what you think of Jermaine Paul’s performance and win in the comments below.
