Foo Fighters’ “Million-Dollar Demos” Leak Online
Posted 5/11/2012

.
Foo Fighters may be on top of the world right now, but things weren’t always that way for the band. Two tracks recorded during the initial, scrapped One By One sessions known as the “million-dollar demos” have leaked online.

.
In case you’re not familiar with the band’s history, prior to their 2002 album One By One, the band was on the brink of breaking up. After recording a new collection of songs at Dave Grohl’s Virgina studio and Conway Studios in Los Angeles, the then-argumentative group decided to not release the tunes, which drummer Taylor Hawkins would eventually refer to as “million-dollar demos” for obvious reasons.
.
Thankfully, following a transcendent performance at Coachell,a the band decided to make the album again. However, they have gone on record saying it’s their least favorite disc. The two tracks that have leaked — “Have It All” and “Come Back” — made the final version of One By One, and while these demos have different arrangements and are less slick than the final versions, it’s still interesting to hear how these songs — and the band — evolved.
.
So what do you think of the “million-dollar demos” and how do they stack up to the final versions in your opinion? Let us know in the comments section below as you listen to some Foo Fighters Radio!
