May 29, 1965 – The Beach Boys start a two week run at No.1 on the singles chart with ‘Help Me Rhonda’, the group’s second No.1.

Jun 3, 1967 – Aretha Franklin goes to No.1 on the singles chart with her version of the Otis Redding hit ‘Respect’.

May 30, 1974 – Pop star Cee-Lo Green is born.

Jun 1, 1974 – Female rocker Alanis Morissette is born.

Jun 4, 1984 - Bruce Springsteen releases  Born In The USA, which goes on to top the charts for seven weeks and features seven Top 10 singles.

May 29, 1997 – Singer.songwriter Jeff Buckley disappears after talking a swim in the Mississippi River.

Jun 4, 1997 – Jeff Buckley’s body is discovered floating in the Mississippi River.

Jun 4, 2000 - Eminem starts an eight-week run at No.1 on the album charts with ‘The Marshall Mathers LP’.

Jun 1, 2005 -  Jack White marries his girlfriend, British model Karen Elson, in a canoe on the Amazon in Brazil. They would divorce in 2011.

Jun 2, 2008 – Guitarist and singer Bo Diddley dies of heart failure at his home in Archer, Florida aged 79.

May 29, 2009 - Iconic producer Phil Spector is sentenced to at least 19 years in prison for the 2003 murder of an actress.
