After what has been a whirlwind of activity and speculation following the separation and divorce filing between Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise, it appears that the couple have reached a settlment.

People is reporting that Katie Holmes’ attorney has confirmed the deal with them. According to his statement to the magazine, the agreement has been signed off on by both parties. There are no immediate details being released, but we know that their daughter, Suri, was of extreme importance to them both. There was some talk that they were working on an arrangement where Suri would live in New York with Holmes while Cruise would have generous visitation rights. In a joint statement to TheWrap, the couple confirmed their commitment to Suri:

“We are committed to working together as parents to accomplishing what is in our daughter Suri’s best interests. We want to keep matters affecting our family private and express our respect for each other’s commitment to each of our respective beliefs and support each other’s roles as parents.”

As we reported earlier, Holmes and Suri moved into a new apartment building in New York City and have been spotted out and about shopping on the town. We can only hope that this agreement will help both sides remain amicable and willing to work together for their daughter’s sake
