Alkaline Trio frontman Matt Skiba (pictured above) and Angels and Airwaves drummer Atom Willard have announced a new joint band, The Hell. Last week, Skiba tweeted, “Just started a new rock band with Atom Willard (angels and airwaves, rocket, social d., alk 3, etc). Be on the lookout for THE HELL people!”

.

This won’t be Skiba and Willard’s first time working together: Willard served as Alkaline Trio’s touring drummer in 2000 before Derek Grant permanently secured the spot. This also isn’t Skiba’s first time embarking on a new project named for a locale in the afterlife. Back in 2006, he released one album in a project called Heavens. There’s no word yet on whether The Hell plans to record, although Skiba is currently in the studio working on his next solo disc and has been recording guest vocals for some other bands as well.

.

Most notably, Skiba has lent vocals to the upcoming Rise Against album, Endgame, which is coming out next month. In January, Skiba tweeted, “sang on Rise Against’s new album this morning at 10am in Tarzana w Bill Stevenson producing. Day 4 rehearsal studio for actual, live rock!” If you haven’t already, take a listen to Rise Against’s first single “Architects.”
