Bummer, you guys. Katy Perry will no longer be allowing to sport her spinning candy bra onstage while performing due to insurance liabilities. Yes, that’s right, this is actual news that we just typed into a sentence and yes, we know, it’s downright tragic (the news, not that we typed it).

The costume, known as Perry’s “spinning peppermint bra,” was declared a safety hazard after an onstage incident involving the singer’s hair. Perry told The Sun, “My hair got caught in the wheels of my spinning peppermint bra and began to coil around and around. I’m forced to just go with it so, by the end of the song, it looked quite like I was licking my own tit. What a girl does for her art.”

Perry doesn’t really seem to see an issue with this, but her tour insurance company sure did. The company has since told Perry that she will no longer be permitted to include this particular item of “clothing” in her costume closet for performances. But never fear, this apparently isn’t the end of Perry’s mechanized undergarments. The singer noted, “I keep being told the insurers are worried I will injure my neck. I seriously doubt it could be lethal but they want a new bra designed that will not allow hair to be caught up.”

Perry is, of course, a fan of “special” bras. She wore one that sprayed whipped cream in the video for “California Gurls” and has donned ones that feature cupcakes, spinning movie reels and candy canes while on tour.
