While Seth Macfarlane may be slowly transitioning into the world of feature films — his new movie, Ted, starring Mark Wahlberg is coming out July 13th — the voice of Peter, Brian, and Stewie Griffin isn’t forgetting his roots. Macfarlane will return as executive producer and voiceover artist for the 11th season of Family Guy, which Entertainment Weekly reports has been officially picked up by the FOX network for another 22 episodes. Animation domination continues!
American Dad has also been renewed for an 8th season of 22 episodes, but The Cleveland Show is suspiciously absent from the lineup so far. There’s still a chance that FOX could renew it during it’s big upfront presentation coming up, but we’ll leave the speculation behind for now and wait for real confirmation one way or another.

In recent years, it’s become the “cool” thing to do to trash Family Guy as being not quite as good as it used to be. I’ve been watching it from the beginning, and the show has certainly been better this year than during the past couple of seasons. I wouldn’t consider myself a Seth Macfarlane fanboy, but I am interested in seeing what he can do outside the realm of television. At the same time, there are very few animated shows that have such a hardcore fanbase as “Family Guy” — remember, it was fans who rallied to bring the show back after it was cancelled early in its run — so I’m glad to see it coming back on the air and look forward to the continuing adventures of Peter, Brian, Stewie, Lois, Meg, Quagmire, Chris, and all the other residents of Quahog.
