We don’t know about you guys, but we have a major girl crush on Alison Brie. The 30-year-old actress is one of the funniest ladies on TV, and her comedy skills haven’t gone unnoticed by the industry — which isn’t to say that she hasn’t also proven her abilities in the drama department. Between the highly-coveted roles she’s landed on the small screen in recent years and the major movies she’s begun to be involved with as of late, we have no doubt she’s on track to become one of the biggest stars of the next decade. So, today we’ve decided to take a closer look at this week’s “one to watch,” Ms. Alison Brie.

Alison was born Alison Brie Schermerhorn in 1982. She grew up in Pasadena, California, and began her acting career at the local Jewish Community Center. She graduated from Pasadena High School in 2001, and went on to get her BFA in Acting from the California Institute of the Arts.

She was awarded her first TV role — a small part in Hannah Montana — in 2006. Not a shabby start, eh?

In 2007, Alison’s career enjoyed a major boost when she was cast as Trudy Campbell on the mega-hit TV show Mad Men.

Two years later, Alison scored another role, this time as Annie Edison on the show Community.

Then, in 2011, Alison played the part of Sidney Prescott’s assistant in Scream 4.

And now, as of this weekend, Alison can be seen playing Suzie in the Emily Blunt and Jason Segel comedy The Five Year Engagement.  The movie looks hilarious and was partially penned by Jason Segel, who also wrote Forgetting Sarah Marshall and The Muppets.

Next up for Emily will be Adventures of the Dunderheads later this year, a film in which she’ll star opposite Haley Joel Osment. That movie will be followed up by the comedy Get a Job in 2013. All the while, Alison will continue her big-time TV roles. Pretty impressive resume for someone who essentially began acting professionally just six years ago, don’t you think? We see big(ger) things ahead!
