Coldplay’s Chris Martin seems like the kind of artist who really cares about his fans and today he proved it as he’s now taking a stand to educate the public about a buzz that’s not so cool known as Tinnitus.

In a new interview with the Daily Mail Martin admitted that he’s been suffering from the painful ear condition since he began listening to loud music as a teenager over a decade ago although he claims that the constant ringing in his ears has subsided since he began to wear earplugs and use in-ear monitors live.

“Looking after your ears is unfortunately something you don’t think about until there’s a problem. I’ve had tinnitus for about ten years, and since I started protecting my ears it hasn’t got any worse – touch wood,” he explained. The singer added that his young children aren’t allowed to make the same mistake he did and are forced to wear earplugs whenever they’re near live music.

Furthermore along with Plan B and Gary Numan, Martin is supporting a new charity campaign called Action On Hearing Loss which hopes to raise awareness about this often overlooked disorder.
