Thanks to a choice placement of her emotionally revealing ballad “Jar of Hearts” last summer on FOX’s So You Think You Can Dance, “Introducing…” artist Christina Perri, a Philadelphia native who moved to LA on her 21st birthday with only a guitar and a suitcase, was suddenly thrust into the national spotlight: Her single shot up the iTunes charts and offers from record labels started flooding in.
.
This spring, when she had a minute to breathe, we sat down for a chat with Perri at L.A.’s famed Sunset Sound Studios — where Led Zeppelin recorded back in the day, a fact that delighted Perri causing her to respond with the phrase “Shut the front door.” When we caught up with her, Perri was busy recording her debut LP lovestrong (which premieres tomorrow on Myspace Music!) and could hardly contain her childlike giddiness.
.
“I’ve been dreaming about making an album my whole life,” Perri said, unable to wipe the permanent smile off her bubbly face. “It’s a total dream come true.” For Perri, who started writing songs at 15, the entire experience seems surreal. “I keep pinching myself every morning,” she says. If you aren’t fully acquainted with the 24-year-old already, after listening to her debut album, chances are you will be. “These songs are like if I could put my guts onto a CD,” Perri explains. “I feel so fortunate that I get to be me.”

Check out our interview below at Sunset Sound Studios with Christina Perri and be sure to stop back tomorrow to listen to her brand new debut album lovestrong.
