‘Snooki and JWoww’ isn’t the first ‘Jersey Shore’ spin-off to hit MTV – that would be ‘The Pauly D Project’ – but it certainly is the splashiest. Right before Jenni and Nicole were set to embark on this “last hurrah,” as they’re so often referring to it, it was announced that Nicole and her boyf Jionni were expecting their first child (Yikes!), so what was supposed to be just a continuation of the girls’ story whilst not at the shore has become a little more. How will the girls cope with the different places they are in life all while living in the same (GIANT) apartment? This could actually be (Gasp!) an interesting show if played right, but it’s MTV and this is the ‘Jersey Shore’ world, so expect it to be dumbed down exponentially. However, they do have something. Let’s grade it!

Strength of Episode – B+: Listen guys, it’s summer and ‘Snooki and Jwow’ is just fun. It’s no secret that ‘Jersey Shore’ has been StinkTown USA Population Ronnie Ortiz Magro for about two seasons now, but ‘Snooki and JWoww’ is the perfect antidote. Strip away all that’s terrible about ‘Shore,’ namely the boys, and it becomes something wholly more enjoyable. Jenni and Nicole’s dynamic is one of the few things that actually works, so focusing on that was a smart move. The added drama of the pregnancy that they just happened upon will certainly move the show in an unexpected direction, but it’s one that, I think, could be beneficial.

What Was the Best Bit In the Premiere: It’s a close race, but probably Snooki’s conversation with her father which led to her suggestion that maybe she and Jenni just wouldn’t use electricity, trading it in for simple candles. “The amish do it and they’re rich, I feel,” Snooks remarked.

What Was the Second Best Bit In the Premiere: Probably Jenni and Nicole badgering their realtors about what their relationship is outside of the job. Jenni can’t believe that two good looking people wouldn’t be sleeping together. Normally I’d laugh off her assertion, but they seemed to get pretty red faced when asked.

What Was the Worst Part of the Premiere: ROGER!

How Did Jenni Take the News That Nicole Was Pregnant?: Uhm…ok, I guess. I actually believe that that is when she found out because I don’t think Jenni’s that good of an actor. I mean, think about it, she’s expecting to move in with her nutbag party girl best friend for a good time. It’d be disappointing.

Potential For Series – Good: I’m epecting ‘Snooki and JWow’ to be a fun summer distraction incorporating the things we love about ‘Jersey Shore’ and trimming the Ronnie Ortiz Magro fat.
