‘Glee’: Who’s Staying and Who’s Going?

With only two weeks left in this season, anticipation is growing and speculation is rampant on who will be staying and who will be leaving McKinley High. First there were rumors of a spin-off show going to the seniors headed to New York, but that fell apart. Then there is the plot line that left Quinn paralyzed as a result of her texting and driving … will she be around next year? And now we’ve got Amber Riley tweeting some pretty serious sounding good-byes to her fellow “Glee Kids.” What does it all mean?

Update 5/14: It turns out that Amber Riley isn’t leaving the show. Apparently those of us in the media misunderstood her previous tweets concerning this summer and her role in “Glee.” She took to Twitter again to clarify for us:
.
“My tweet apparently has been misconstrued. I was not confirming I was leaving the show. Just stating that I would miss being in the classroom everyday with the cast and that would be changing. Thanks for the support guys :) That’s the good and bad thing about twitter. It can be used to extinguish rumors but it also spreads them like wildfire!”
.
We reported on the death of the spin-off rumors earlier this year, and we knew then that not everyone would be coming back for season four. Today, the net is buzzing with the recent tweets from Amber Riley (Mercedes) saying so long and farewell:
.
“That’s a wrap on Amber Riley! Just closed a chapter in my life, the only thing I’ve known day in and day out for three years. I’m going to miss the whole Glee family, seeing them everyday! I have so many brothers and sisters now :) But I am looking forward to a much needed and deserved summer vacation! SCHOOL’S OUT Glee Kids! Let’s play!”
.
But wait! What exactly does this mean? Is she leaving the show for good or is this just a summer production break? It sounds like she’s leaving the show to us. We’ve also heard that Dianna Agron is reportedly leaving the series. In an interview at the TV Academy’s “Glee” event on May 2nd, Jane Lynch shared her thoughts on Agron’s departure:
.
“It caught me by surprise. It was kind of emotional doing my last scene with Dianna, and it really just caught me by surprise at how moving it was. She is just amazing and just a really nice person too. It was like saying goodbye to Dianna, which is a sad thing to do.”
.
So, let’s review what we know so far. Rachel, Finn, Santana and Kurt are coming back for another season, although with Rachel, Finn, and Kurt going to New York, there is a possibility of a “show within a show” scenario. Mercedes and Quinn are on their way out. That leaves Artie, Puck, and Brittany up in the air, but without any reason for them to stay, we see them heading out the door as well.
.
What do you think? Do you have any predictions on who will stay and who will go?
