Forbes has once again come out with a list of the top money earners from a particular group, and this time it’s TV actresses. While you are probably surprised to hear that Modern Family’s Sofia Vergara tops the list, keep in mind that many of the ladies who made the list earn income from sources other than their television roles.
In fact, big endorsement deals, clothing lines, and syndication play an important role in the income of more than a few of these women. It’s because of this fact that you might be surprised who is on the list. We’ve got the top 20 below, in countdown format, so check ‘em out and let us know what you think. 20. Courtney Cox – Cougar Town ($5 million)
Earning around $175,000 per episode, Cox is still cashing in on Friends royalties as well.

19. Kyra Sedgwick – The Closer ($6 million)
Sedgwick earns $350,000 per episode, but this is the show’s final season. Where will she end up next?

18. Julianna Margulies – The Good Wife ($6 million)
We don’t have a per episode breakdown on her pay, but she serves as a spokeswoman for L’Oreal products, so we’re sure that helps out a lot.

17. Melissa McCarthy – Mike and Molly ($6 million)
Her TV show reaches an average of 10 million viewers per week and has just been renewed for a fourth season.

16. Marg Helgenberger – CSI ($7 million)
She earned a whopping $450,000 per episode after 12 years with the show, but her last episode aired in January.

15. Alyson Hannigan – How I Met Your Mother ($7 million)
She took home roughly $4 million from new episodes and syndication fees, but a hefty portion of her earnings also came from the latest American Pie installment.

14. Kaley Cuoco – The Big Bang Theory ($8 million)
She rakes in $250,000 per episode, with an additional $1.5 million each year for reruns.

13. Marcia Cross – Desperate Housewives ($8 million)
She’s one of the high-maintenance wives from Wisteria Lane, and the first of many on this list.

12. Teri Hatcher – Desperate Housewives ($8 million)
She earns an estimated $375,000 per episode of ABC’s hit show. She also appeared in four episodes of Jane By Design.

11. Kate Walsh – Private Practice ($8 million)
While raking in around $275,000 per episode, she also had more than $2.5 million in sales of her fragrances, Boyfriend and Billionaire Boyfriend.

10. Ellen Pompeo – Grey’s Anatomy ($9 million)
She made $275,000 per episode for the last season, and also earns income from Calamity Jane, her own production company.

9. Felicity Huffman – Desperate Housewives ($9 million)
In addition to making $8 million for her last year on the hit show, she also appeared in advertising campaigns such as “Got Milk?” and worked as a spokeswoman for Dole.

8. Zooey Deschanel – New Girl ($9 million)
While we’re sure she earns a pretty penny from her TV gig, commercial deals with Pantene, Apple, and Rimmel London certainly didn’t hurt.

7. Mariska Hargitay – Law & Order: Special Victims Unit ($10 million)
Although the show is the most successful in the Law & Order franchise, Hargitay’s character has taken a backseat role in the series because of a promotion.

6. Tina Fey – 30 Rock ($11 million)
Between her salary and the syndication of the series on Comedy Central and WGN America, Fey’s earnings have put her in the top ten.

5. Khloe Kardashian Odom – Khloe & Lamar ($11 million)
She also stars in Keeping Up With The Kardashians, and earns addition income from The Kardashian Kollection for Sears.

4. Bethan Frankel – Bethenny Ever After ($12 million)
Her earnings aren’t just from the one show … she’s also helped put Skinnygirl Cocktails on the road to success, wrote her first novel, and debuted a daytime talk show.

3. Eva Longoria – Desperate Housewives ($15 million)
Making $375,000 per episode, she’s also earned income for several TV productions as well as commercial deals with L’Oreal Paris and Pepsi.

2. Kim Kardashian – Keeping Up With The Kardashians ($18 million)
In addition to the show, she earns money from her clothing line, family boutique (DASH), and a specialty store in the Las Vegas Mirage hotel.

1. Sofia Vergara – Modern Family ($19 million)
We all know about her success on TV, but Vergara also earned money from three movie roles, endorsements (in English) for Cover Girl, Diet Pepsi, (and in Spanish) Burger King, Comcast, and State Farm. She also has a clothing line at KMart and owns half of the management company Latin World Entertainment. She was born in a farming community in Columbia, and she’s spent the last 17 years working toward her current success. She’s definitely earned her bragging rights.
