Despite somewhat middling reviews, Snow White & The Huntsman will likely end up being the more successful of this year’s dueling Snow White movies. (The other being the Julia Roberts starrer Mirror, Mirror.) So it should come as no surprise that Universal is moving forward with a sequel, ready to continue the adventures of the warrior princess Snow White and her ax-wielding lover, The Huntsman.

I thought the first movie was OK, but I definitely didn’t love it. It certainly had potential, but it was rushed into production to compete with Mirror, Mirror and suffered on a story level because of that. (Visually, I thought there was a lot to like about it.) Director Rupert Sanders, an acclaimed commercial director, made his feature directorial debut on the first film, and is in talks to return for the second movie. Also, Deadline reports that stars Kristen Stewart and Chris Hemsworth are signed on for two more movies, so it’s likely they’ll return for more period-piece fairy tale action. No word yet on Charlize Theron (who gave a positively Nic Cage-level performance in the first one, shrieking 90% of her dialogue), but since she did have magical powers, it’s possible that she could return, too (maybe in flashback form or something).

What do you think? Do you want to see more of Stewart looking “fetching” in chain-mail as she and Hemsworth battle new evils in the kingdom?
