Fans have been clamoring for any footage of Johnny Depp as Tonto in his upcoming western The Lone Ranger, and now we have one of the first videos of the mega-star doing an on-set interview in Monument Valley with incredible vistas in the background. Depp is in full makeup, so that’s fun to see, but unfortunately co-star Armie Hammer is nowhere to be found. Check out the video below to see Captain Jack Sparrow all painted up, Native-American style.

Aside from screaming children or something, this is about the worst audio I can imagine for a video. It’s unfortunate that we can’t hear anything that he’s saying here, but it’s still an interesting (and very up-close) look at the makeup and costume that he’ll be wearing in the film. We saw a bit of real footage in Hall H at Comic-Con when Disney surprised the crowd with the first-look trailer, but until that hits the web, this will have to do for Depp fans to get their fix.
