We’re only days away now from the official release of The Hunger Games on Blu-ray, DVD, and digital download formats. Hopefully, you’ve already pre-ordered your copy, but if for some crazy reason you haven’t, then let us add a little more motivation in the form of a new Blu-ray / DVD trailer and two new featurettes starring Jennifer Lawrence.
A few days ago we saw Jennifer Lawrence talk about her experiences in Indie vs big budget films and what drew her into her role in The Hunger Games. In our first featurette today, the conversation with Lawrence continues, only this time we’re shifting to a discussion about the physical training and choreography required for the tree climbing scenes.

Next we get to take a look behind the scenes with Chad Stahelski, the stunt coordinator, as he talks about what it took to make the wall of fire that Katniss has to contend with. Jennifer Lawrence also chimes in about the filming of that scene, the heat, and the use of a stunt double.

So what’s so special about the Blu-ray? We’re told it will contain three hours of unreleased material, special behind-the-scenes featurettes (like the ones above), interviews with the cast and crew, and details about some of the story lines that were altered from the book. The extras also include the full-length “Propaganda Film” shown during the Reaping. What more could you ask for? Check out the new trailer for the Blu-ray / DVD below and let us know if you’ve ordered your copy yet!

The Hunger Games Blu-ray / DVD and digital download copies will be released at midnight, August 18th, 2012. Don’t miss it!

Official Synopsis: Every year in the ruins of what was once North America, the Capitol of the nation of Panem forces each of its twelve districts to send a teenage boy and girl to compete in the Hunger Games. A twisted punishment for a past uprising and an ongoing government intimidation tactic, the Hunger Games are a nationally televised event in which “Tributes” must fight with one another until one survivor remains. Sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen volunteers in her younger sister’s place to enter the games, and is forced to rely upon her sharp instincts as well as the mentorship of drunken former victor Haymitch Abernathy when she’s pitted against highly-trained Tributes who have prepared for these Games their entire lives. If she’s ever to return home to District 12, Katniss must make impossible choices in the arena that weigh survival against humanity and life against love.
