Lee Daniels, director of the Oscar-nominated film Precious, has already wrapped his next project and it’s probably not on your radar quite yet. It’s called The Paperboy, and it’s got a pretty phenomenal cast that includes Zac Efron, Matthew McConaughey, Nicole Kidman, David Oyelowo, Scott Glenn, and John Cusack. Efron and McConaughey play brother reporters in 1960s Florida investigating a possible wrongful conviction of a man who supposedly murdered the town sheriff. Kidman’s performance as the convict’s love interest is already being called Oscar-worthy, and things will surely get a bit more complicated because Efron’s character falls for her during the investigation.

Thanks to Collider, we’ve got 24 new images from the film, which will play at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival next month. Cusack looks especially wild with his frazzled hair and that bloody machete he’s carrying in a couple of these photos. Take a look after the jump, and tell us what you think in the comments!
