Field Report have joined the Partisan Records roster. The band’s debut album, Field Report, will be released on September 11. The disc was recorded at Bon Iver frontman Justin Vernon’s studio with engineer Beau Sorenson. Band mastermind Chris Porterfield said, “We began to feel like it was time to make a record in the fall of 2011. Around that time, Bon Iver was touring, and came through Milwaukee. I was talking with Justin, and he said that he had heard through the grapevine that I finally had found the right people to play with. He invited us to use his space. We were particularly interested in recording at his studio (April Base) because of the large live room. We wanted to capture the sound of a band in a moment.”

Canadian metalcore band Obey the Brave have signed with Epitaph Records. The label will release the band’s album Young Blood on August 28. Singer Alex Erian said, “I remember listening to my Pennywise and Rancid cassettes back in high school and daydreaming endlessly about being in a band and touring the world. If someone would have told me back then that I’d sign one day with the label that started it all, I would have never believed it. It feels unreal but my boys in OTB and I are definitely up to the challenge. We’re extremely honored to now be part of the Epitaph family and are looking forward to many years of pure fucking destruction together!”

Nettwerk Records has signed U.K. musician Passenger, who will release his album All the Little Lights on August 28 in North America. It’s a big step for the musician, named Mike Rosenberg, who got his start busking in Europe. Rosenberg said, “It’s crazy. I’ve funded my last four records basically from busking.. It’s an amazing thing to have stumbled upon because it is the dilemma for every musician – how do I put a hundred percent of myself into my music, whilst keeping myself together? It’s not a new problem – it’s always been the case – but you find something like busking, which you can still do; while you’re making money you can play your songs and hopefully further your fan base – it’s ideal really.” Check out the video for “The Wrong Direction” below:
