Lucy Hale, the 23-year-old actress who plays Aria Montgomery on ABC Family’s hit series Pretty Little Liars, has come forward in a interview with Cosmo about her struggles with an eating disorder.

In the interview, the September cover girl talks about spending several days without eating. She says there were also days that all she would eat is fruit, and then go work out in the gym for hours. She knew she had a problem, and gradually overcame her disorder. Hollywood is a high-pressure environment, especially for young women who always feel the need to look their best. Lucy Hale is just another example of the detrimental effects that pressure can have on a person.
