Game of Thrones is one of the biggest programs on television today, so it should come as no surprise that they completely filled up Hall H for San Diego Comic-Con. Creator George R. R. Martin as well as Emilia Clarke, Alfie Allen, Richard Madden, Michelle Fairley and Rose Leslie. If you haven’t seen any of the show yet, there’s spoilers from season one and especially season two. You’ve been warned…
The first thing you probably want to know about is Calisi (Emilia Clarke). Her hair is naturally blonde, so she’s not as instantly recognizable as you might think. During season one she could get away with walking around unnoticed, although that’s changed a bit now. Calisi is one of the most popular costumes at the event.

Creator George R. R. Martin said his favorite part about telling this story was that rather than having good guys and bad guys, most characters are gray…and none moreso than Theon Greyjoy, played by Alfie Allen. (That wasn’t a pun, by the way. Martin was being serious.)
.
For evidence of this, you need to look no further than the ridiculous amounts of sex Theon Greyjoy has throughout the series. He basically sleeps with everyone but his sister (and he almost did that!). Martin told Allen that he was hurt that he never got so much as a box of chocolates as a thank you for all the sex scenes he gets to be in.
Martin then asked Allen about his death in season two, which left all of us a little confused. As a joke, the writers sent Allen a fake script in which Theon Greyjoy dies. But Allen was totally fine with it (I guess you have to be with this show). “I thought it was a great way to go,” said Allen. When he didn’t react the way they wanted him to, the writers asked “how do you feel about being a naked zombie with absolutely no dialogue?” That’s when he realized that the whole thing was a rouse.
.
Catelyn Stark (Michelle Fairley) took a much darker turn in season two, and can you blame her? Fairley was all for it though – she loves “big emotional stuff” with depth. She also gave us some details on the always amazing costumes: whenever someone is wearing armor, it’s real, and most of the costumes have intricate embroidery, even if you can’t always see it on TV.
.
Rose Leslie (who plays Jon Snow’s love interest Ygritte) may be a newcomer to season two, but the whole atmosphere is pretty familiar to her. She’s born and raised in a castle, although it’s “definitely not Winterfell.” It does have a dungeon, and when she was a kid, “hide and seek would last for days.” Her brother is set to inherit the castle, although as George R. R. Martin noted, “if something should happen to him…”
.
The panel closed with Martin telling us that as a child, he raised pet turtles (cats and dogs weren’t allowed in his housing project). He put the turtles in a toy castle and made up stories about how they betrayed each other and killed each other. Apparently Game of Thrones has been a lifetime in the making!

Unfortunately, there’s no footage to report on, since season three hasn’t started filming yet. But they did confirm that it will premiere March 31st, 2013. If you follow HBO programs, you know the fact that we only have to wait 12 months is a VERY good thing.
