Welcome back to another edition of “This Week in Casting,” the column that gives you the rundown of who’s attached to the hottest upcoming projects in Hollywood. From big time players to fresh-faced rookies, we’ve got the week in review for you right here. This week, we’ve got casting news about Kristen Stewart, Rihanna, Rosie Huntington-Whitely, and many more. Get all the details below!
.
BIG NAMES
.
Kristen Stewart might star in 50 Shades of Grey

The movie: The erotic novel that’s been taking the world by storm started as Twilight fan fiction, so it makes sense that KStew might take the lead role of Anastasia Steele, a young journalist who gets into an intense S&M relationship with a wealthy billionaire named Christian Grey. Will her real-life and on-screen boyfriend Robert Pattinson play Grey? Doubtful. Chris Pine was also rumored for the part at one point, but has since clarified that he doesn’t have it yet. The film doesn’t even have producers locked down at this point, let alone a cast in place, but we’ll keep you posted with all the latest right here.
Other projects: Stewart has got the last Twilight movie out later this year, as well as the long-awaited adaptation of On the Road, in which she apparently gets topless. Just FYI.
.
Rihanna and Jim Parsons lead the voice cast of DreamWorks’ Animation’s Happy Smekday!

The movie: A friendly alien races uses Earth as a hideout from their evil enemies. One lowly alien accidentally tips the enemies that they’re on Earth, and for some reason ends up going on a road trip with a teenage girl as they travel across a post-apocalyptic America toward safety.
Other projects: Rihanna is appearing in Seth Rogan and Evan Goldberg’s new comedy The End of the World, where she’ll play herself along with a ton of other celebrities who hang out at James Franco’s house during the apocalypse. (RiRi loves the apocalypse, apparently.) Parsons, who stars as Sheldon on “The Big Bang Theory,” will appear in a movie called The Normal Heart in 2014 from “Glee” creator Ryan Murphy.
.
Ryan Phillippe starring in indie thriller Shreveport

The movie: Phillippe is writing, producing, and making his directorial debut on this movie, in which he’ll star as a fading actor who is suddenly kidnapped and tortured while filming a low budget movie in Shreveport, Louisiana. I’m holding out hope that Phillippe plays a version of himself, since that would make things way more meta.
Other projects: He’s got a drama called Straight A’s coming up, starring alongside “True Blood” lead Anna Paquin and Luke Wilson.
.
Christina Applegate officially joins cast of Anchorman 2

The movie: Great Odin’s Raven! We heard rumors that Christina Applegate would be returning to the Channel 4 News Team as Veronica Corningstone in the Anchorman sequel, but now producer Judd Apatow confirms the news 100%. I think this might be my most anticipated movie ever.
Other projects: She’ll continue to star on her NBC TV series “Up All Night.”
.
Rosie Huntington-Whitely joins cast of Mad Max: Fury Road

The movie: Continuing the adventures of Mel Gibson’s Mad Max character, The Dark Knight Rises star Tom Hardy will take the lead role opposite Charlize Theron in this Australian action flick that’s been plagued with delays for years. Rosie will play one of the “five wives,” a series of women being transported across a post-apocalyptic desert.
Other projects: She’s mostly stuck to modelling after her acting debut in Transformers: Dark of the Moon.
.
Margot Robbie joins DiCaprio, Hill, and more in The Wolf of Wall Street

The movie: Based on the real-life exploits of stockbroker Jordan Belfort, DiCaprio stars as the high-powered broker who eventually spirals out of control thanks to wealth, sex, greed, and addiction. Robbie, who starred in the ABC series “Pan Am,” is playing DiCaprio’s wife. Talk about a huge role! Oh, and did I mention the movie is directed by Martin Scorsese?
Other projects: She’ll star alongside Rachel McAdams in a time travel film called About Time set for release next year.

RISING STARS
.
Taissa Farmiga, Nicholas Braun, and Spencer Lofranco starring in Admissions
Getty Images
The movie: The film stars Andy Garcia and Vera Farmiga who fall in love while taking their children on a college admissions tour. Taissa is actually Vera’s younger sister, but she’ll play her daughter in the movie, while Lofranco will play Garcia’s son and Braun will play an upperclassman leading the tour.
Where you might have seen them: Farmiga was on “American Horror Story” last season, Lofranco hasn’t acted in anything yet, while Braun has appeared in Sky High, Red State, and the upcoming The Perks of Being A Wallflower.
.
Hunter Parrish, Mia Wasikoswka, and model Zoe Aggeliki in talks for Catching Fire
Getty Images
The movie: The sequel to The Hunger Games picks up where the first film left off, continuing the exploits of Katniss Everdeen and her love triangle between Peeta and Gale. Parrish was once up for the role of Peeta before Josh Hutcherson locked it down, and now he’s in talks for fan-favorite character Finnick Odair. Wasikowska and model Zoe Aggeliki are vying for the part of Johanna Mason, a key figure in the Hunger Games universe that factors into both Catching Fire and the third movie, Mockingjay.
Where you might have seen them: Parrish plays Silas Botwin on the Showtime series “Weeds,” and has starred in movies like Gone and 17 Again in the past few years. You probably know Wasikowska from Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland, and Aggeliki will star in the upcoming Ryan Reynolds movie R.I.P.D..
.
You could star in the upcoming movie based on the rap group NWA
The movie: The Italian Job director F. Gary Gray is directing a biopic of one of rap’s most influential groups, the NWA. A casting agency is looking for young talent (18-25) to play Eazy-E, Ice Cube, Dr. Dre, Yella, and MC Ren, so if you think you’ve got what it takes, fire an video audition of yourself playing the character you want to kimcolemansoc@gmail.com, and include your name, e-mail, contact number, age, height, and location. Good luck!
