Jennifer Lawrence Ups The Ante For ‘Catching Fire’

Jennifer Lawrence was the central star of The Hunger Games, and as such should be entitled to a raise for the next film in the franchise, right? That’s the argument of the film’s producers at least, after the success of the first film. This is not uncommon in Hollywood, as The Twilight Saga stars all received bumps in pay after each successful film.

The real surprise, however, is the size of the pay increase … or perhaps how little she was paid for the first film. Granted, it was her first major appearance and the franchise was unproven. But the reported $500,000 in upfront pay (plus bonuses based on performance) still seems a little low by Hollywood standards. After all, some TV stars make almost that much for a single episode of the Housewives franchise.
.
So how much is Lawrence looking to make on the next film? The Hollywood Reporter is saying she’s eyeballing the $10 million mark as upfront payment, plus performance bonuses. This would definitely launch her into the realm of the Hollywood A-listers, who average around $16 million a year. While her co-stars will probably get an increase in pay as well, it won’t be anything near what Lawrence is getting. The reason? According to producers, she’s the star of the show.
.
So what do you think? Does Jennifer Lawrence deserve such a big raise and if so, do her co-stars deserve just as much or not?
