Ready for the next installment of The Hunger Games? Well, you don’t have long to wait … sort of. While the next movie, Catching Fire, isn’t going to be hitting theaters until November 2013, you’ll be able to get your Hunger Games fix this August, when the movie will become available in various digital formats.

According to Entertainment Weekly, The Hunger Games will be available in DVD, Blu-ray, and digital download formats at midnight on August 18th, 2012. In addition to the normal fare you would expect to see, both the DVD and Blu-ray disc sets will include extra special features:

“over three hours of unreleased material, with features that provide insight into how the film was made, interviews with the cast and crew, and details about some of the story lines that differed from the book — like President Snow’s character (Donald Sutherland) and the role of the game maker (Wes Bentley). An eight-part documentary entitled The World is Watching: Making of The Hunger Games delves into the behind-the-scenes aspect of creating the film. The extras also include the full-length “Propaganda Film” shown during the Reaping.”

The DVD and Blu-ray will be available for pre-order starting May 25th. Both sets consist of two discs and include a digital copy. Mark your calendars so you don’t forget to pre-order … or at least order by the deadline. In the meantime, you’ll just have to be happy re-reading the book!
