Blake Lively is playing yet another cocaine addict in Derek Martini’s upcoming film, Hick, leading many around here to wonder if the actress is ever going to show us any new colors. Her one major film deviation from the world of sex, drugs, and rock and roll was the Ryan Reynolds superhero flick Green Lantern. That movie didn’t perform so heroically at the box office, so it looks like Blake may be going back to what she thinks works. She co-stars with Chloe Moretz and Eddie Redmayne this time around, and we’ve got the film’s poster for you.

Moretz is locking down projects left and right these days, and studios are starting to see her full potential. She was just cast in the lead role for a remake of Carrie for MGM, but it looks like she’ll be joining Lively in returning to familiar material here as well, since she’s taking on another “girl with a gun” role after her famous part in Kick-Ass…not to mention “angry girl” from numerous parts like “30 Rock” and “Let Me In.” Redmayne was last seen in My Week with Marilyn and will star in the upcoming adaptation of Les Meserables opposite Hugh Jackman out later this year. Here’s the full synopsis of Hick (via VeryAware):
.
Small town teenager Luli (CHLOË GRACE MORETZ) escapes to Las Vegas, leaving behind her alcoholic and abusive parents. Armed with her smarts, a pistol and pocket money, she hitchhikes her way west. Along the way, Luli crosses paths with Eddie (EDDIE REDMAYNE), an unstable rebel with questionable motives and Glenda (BLAKE LIVELY), a cocaine-snorting drifter on the run. Directed by Derick Martini and adapted from the critically acclaimed novel by Andrea Portes, this powerful story pulls you into a provocative world of drugs, seduction and murder.
