For those of you still holding out hope that The White Stripes will come back together someday, we have some unfortunate news. According to Jack White, his formative band is fully over – unless, of course, he really really needs some money.
.
White told NME, “I would probably say absolutely not. Absolutely no chance. I couldn’t see any reason to ever do that. I’m not the kind of person that would retire from baseball and come out of retirement the next year. I mean, if we went to all the trouble of telling people we’re done, we meant it you know?”
.
Any exceptions? Not one that’s likely. “If we were forced to change our mind about that, I can only imagine the reason being if we went bankrupt or really needed the cash, which would be a really sad thing,” White told the magazine. “I would probably be issuing an apology along with the announcement of the show dates.”
.
Yikes. So that basically means that you hopefully are getting your Jack White fix from his new batch of solo tracks, many of which have made their way onto the Internet before the release of his album Blunderbuss next month. White also explained how he determined the best way to reveal that The White Stripes were kaput. “I wanted Meg to come to a decision with me and officially put an end to it,” he said. “I said eventually – I had no plans at the time – but eventually I’m going to record by myself under my name, and I don’t really feel like going through the dumb perception battle of people who couldn’t be broad minded enough to understand the difference between Jack White and The White Stripes.”

So, anyone counting on seeing The White Stripes headline Coachella 2015 should probably just get used to the fact that the band is not planning to return. In case you’ve forgotten what you’re missing check out The White Stripes’ Myspace Radio channel here.
