Julia Roberts has been on the A-list for over twenty years. TWENTY. It’s hard for us to believe she’s been around for that long, especially given the fact that she looks about the same as she did back then — and she’s not even a Scientologist! This weekend, she’ll play a role that may be one of her biggest stretches yet when she debuts as the Wicked Queen in the “Snow White” reimagining Mirror Mirror. While we all know how the story goes, we can’t help but feel that Julia remains “the fairest of them all.” Let’s take a look back at how she got to where she is today…
A little known fact about Julia’s parents is that they founded an acting school in Atlanta, which was attended by the children of Martin Luther King, Jr. To say thank you for all that the Roberts had done for their kids, the Kings paid for the hospital bills when Julia was born. Pretty cool, eh?

Growing up, Julia wanted to be a veterinarian, but she was always exposed to acting through her parents. After graduating from high school, she decided to pursue acting as a profession after all, and left for New York to follow the dream shortly thereafter. Once in the city, she signed with a modeling agency and began to take acting classes.

Julia made her first big screen appearance in the film Satisfaction alongside Liam Neeson. That same year, she appeared in the film Mystic Pizza, which would later become something of a cult favorite.

The following year, Julia received her first Academy Award nomination — on her third movie! — for her performance as a bride with diabetes in the film Steel Magnolias.

In 1990, Julia was nominated for an Academy Award again for her now-famous performance as the hooker with a heart of gold in the film Pretty Woman. The movie’s commercial and critical success propelled Julia to worldwide superstardom.

Over the course of the next few years, Julia appeared in several more successful films including Sleeping with the Enemy and Hook. She then took a few years off, and was even the subject of a People Magazine story called “What Happened to Julia Roberts?”

She returned to the big screen in 1993 with a role in the film The Pelican Brief. That same year, she married Lyle Lovett. They divorced two years later, and Julia finished out the ‘90s with roles in films which included Notting Hill, My Best Friend’s Wedding, and Stepmom.

In the year 2000, Julia met cameraman Danny Moder on the set of the film The Mexican, and the two soon began to date despite the fact that Danny was already married. In 2001, Julia’s controversial personal life took a backseat to her sensational professional life when she won an Academy Award for her role as the title character in the film Erin Brockovich.

The following year, Danny divorced his wife, and he and Julia were married. Julia then appeared in the films Ocean’s Eleven and Ocean’s Twelve. She also played a part in the Dave Matthews Band music video for the song “Dreamgirl.” In 2004, Julia and Danny welcomed twin babies, one boy and one girl.

In 2007, Julia received a Golden Globe nomination for her role in the film Duplicity. A few years later, she appeared in the film adaptation of the popular book Eat Pray Love.

We’d like to erase the film Larry Crowne from Julia’s resume, but unfortunately that box office bomb happens to be the last time we saw her in action. Hopefully, this week’s release of Mirror Mirror will help us forget all about it. Thoughts?
