Jay-Z fans can now join the fans of other musicians who have had a concert documentary made (Katy Perry comes to mind). It looks like Ron Howard and Brian Grazer are teaming up to make this happen.

Page Six is reporting that theOscar-winning team will be filming at Jay-Z’s Made in America music festival in Philadelphia, September 1st and 2nd. The festival features 20 musical artists, including Pearl Jam, Skrillex, Miike Snow, and Janelle Monáe. Brian Grazer is producing the movie along with Steve Stoute and Jay-Z, with Ron Howard on the project as the director. Grazer shared his concept of the concert biopic:

“It is going to be born through Jay-Z’s perspective . . . how he puts the event together. Jay stayed the king for a very long time . . . I can’t even begin to explain how he is capable of remaining relevant. He is a phenom, like a musical Michael Jordan.”
