Just 22 years old, it took Avicii less than four years to become one of the biggest DJs in the world. Following in a long tradition of Swedish House music producers, he had one of the biggest hits of the year with Levels (see the music video below), which samples vocals from Etta James’ ‘Something’s Got a Hold on Me.’

Electronic music exploded in popularity over the past few years, but Norman Cook aka Fatboy Slim has been churning out hits since the late 80s. Incorporating breakbeats, trip-hop, and nearly all genres of electronic music, Fatboy Slim’s got one of the most diverse catalogs of music around (all of which can be found on Myspace, by the way). His most well-known track is probably ‘Praise You,’ but we opted to include the music video for ‘Weapon of Choice,’ because who doesn’t want to spend four minutes watching Christopher Walken dance and fly?

Ultra offers a variety of genres, but at some point you’re going to want to dance. Brazilian duo Felipe Lozinsky and Gustavo Rozenthal, otherwise known as Felguk, offer the perfect hard-hitting, dance floor-obliterating electro house beats for those looking to boogie.

One of the rising stars on Steve Aoki’s Dim Mak label, Vancouver-based Felix Cartal’s performance at Ultra coincides with the release of his sophomore album Different Faces, which is due out on March 27th. Cartel blends electro, progressive house, nu-disco, and even techno together, yet despite drawing from so many different styles, he’s still able to maintain a cohesive and coherent sound.

If you’re into drums, guitars, and those things called “instruments,” Metronomy blends indie rock/pop with electronica not unlike the more well-known Miike Snow, the only difference is Metronomy has a bit more of an electronic edge. That, and they hail from the UK, not Sweden. Unfortunately, we can’t guarantee that the two adorable stop motion birds in the music video below will accompany the band for their performance.

OK, so technically Sven Vaeth doesn’t really have many tracks you can listen to. For the most part, he’s strictly a DJ, mixing together others’ songs. Still, Papa Sven deserves special mention, as he’s one of the forerunners of techno and electronic music in general, coming up on 50 years of age and 30 years as a DJ. He’s also the model businessman for young aspiring DJs and producers. He operates his own label (Cocoon and runs a club in Ibiza (also called Cocoon), all while touring the far corners of the globe.
