Last night Taylor Swift revealed that she will release a new album, Red, this October and unveiled the disc’s debut single. The track, “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together,” shot to the top of the iTunes chart in under an hour – and now it has an adorable lyrics video to accompany it.

The track was produced by Max Martin, who has worked on hits for Britney Spears, Katy Perry and Kelly Clarkson, and, clearly, is a break up number. Swift said of the album during a live chat last night, “All the different emotions that are written about on this album are all pretty much about the kind of tumultuous, crazy, insane, intense, semi-toxic relationships that I’ve experienced in the last two years. All those emotions — spanning from intense love, intense frustration, jealousy, confusion, all of that — in my mind, all those emotions are red. You know, there’s nothing in between. There’s nothing beige about any of those feelings.” No, there’s not. But this lyrics video is more precious than angry. Watch below:

This is fairly complex lyrics clip that almost stands in as a real music video (although there are no shots of Swift gliding around with perfect hair so…). Swift explained of the song last night, “It’s a really romantic song.” She added that it’s for “my lovely ex-boyfriend.” To which we say: Please let this be about John Mayer!
