After the surprise success of 2008’s Taken, Liam Neeson’s career was revitalized and he’s turned into an A-list action star. Now, he’s about to continue his streak of ass-kicking with a sequel. If you recall, the first movie featured Neeson’s character Bryan Mills saving his daughter Kim (Maggie Grace) from Albanian sex traffickers using a very particular set of skills. In this second film, the pissed-off family members of the guys Mills killed in the first one are back for revenge, and this time it’s Mills’ wife (Famke Janssen) who’s taken. It’s interesting that while she played the victim in the first movie, it looks like Kim is the one who has to save the day here while her parents deal with the villains. Of course, Neeson doesn’t take any of this lying down, and that scene where he shoots the car in front of the train really made me wish this movie was coming out, like, tomorrow. We’ve got a little while to wait, though, as Taken 2 blasts into theaters on October 5th, 2012.

Synopsis: Liam Neeson returns as Bryan Mills, the retired CIA agent with a particular set of skills who stopped at nothing to save his daughter Kim from Albanian kidnappers. When the father of one of the kidnappers swears revenge, and takes Bryan and his wife hostage during their family vacation in Istanbul, Bryan enlists Kim to help them escape, and uses the same advanced level of special forces tactics to get his family to safety and systematically take out the kidnappers one by one.
