The True Blood panel kicked off with a new trailer, which contained some new footage, and now that it’s aired at Comic-Con, HBO has made it available online (see below). Cast favorite scenes, challenges, and new romances were all revealed (okay, maybe not that last one) during the panel. Here’s our report.
So what exactly did the new trailer contain? Sookie gets changed somehow into a nicer version of herself. We also got to see Tara stripping. There’s a fight scene where it looks like Pam is getting the beat down. Then there’s Russell and Eric … um, yeah. And Bill gets him some Sookie. But wait, why am I telling you all this? Check out the trailer, then keep reading to hear about the secrets revealed during the panel!

After the trailer, the cast was brought out to thunderous applause. These fans seemed even more excited than the fans at the Vampire Diaries panel, although to be fair, many stayed in the ballroom through both events. Tim Stack from EW moderates the panel, which includes Joe Manganiello, Ryan Kwanten, Deborah Ann Woll, Sam Trammel, Rutina Wesley, Christopher Meloni, Alex Skarsgard, Kristin Bauer von Straten, Stephen Moyer, Anna Paquin (with her preggers bump), and Alan Ball.
.
The panel kicked off with the moderator asking about any conflict with the Vampire Diaries cast and there doesn’t seem to be any issues. Thing we learned during the moderator questions included…
.
- The guys have been struggling with their “bromance” after years of fighting.
- Manganiello really can do some dance moves, and demonstrated for the audience.
- We’re going to learn about the Stackhouse parents, what happened to them and the affects on Sookie and Jason.
.
From there we went quickly to questions from the fans, which gave us some very interesting details about not only the show, but the actors themselves:
.
- There are some really hot sex scenes in the next season and Alan Ball says “all tastes will be satisfied.” Wow.
- There are no plans to bring out the weretiger from the book series.
- There will be three new romances this season, but there were no hints as to who would be involved.
- Sam Trammel listens to Die Antwoord.
- Christopher Meloni likes to listen to Tool.
- Kristin Bauer von Straten likes her husband’s music (as would be expected)
- Ryan Kwanten can really do a handstand, which he demonstrated for the crowd, and then he walked across the stage on his hands!
- Alex Skarsgard gave his name card (autographed, of course) to oen of the fans. All she had to do was ask!
- There are two, maybe three more seasons in which we may see the Faerie war.
- When asked about favorite moments of the show, Ryan Kwanten mentions his He-Man onesie, and Anna teases the audience saying that the final scene of episode twelve for the this season is her favorite one so far. What?!
.
The panel finished with a standing ovation for Alan Ball, who was choked up while saying his good-byes to the fans. This season will be memorable for many, many reasons, and today’s panel just makes us want to be sure we don’t miss a single episode!
