If a ‘Jersey Shore’ cast member absolutely had to have a spin off, I guess I’m glad it’s Pauly D. Let it be known, this isn’t because I particularly like Pauly – his constant need to kick women out of his home before the sun rises is despicable and unforgivable – but rather because he actually does something. I know nothing about DJing, nor of Pauly’s quality regarding it, but it’s a job that he does and yes, maybe he has this job because he’s on a reality show, but what was the alternative? ‘Snooki and Jionni: Shore Baby?’ ‘Talkin’ Xenadrine With Ronnie?’ Vinny Guadagnino in ‘Ma! Where Are My Sneakers?’ Not likely, so if nothing else ‘The Pauly D Project’ is the least offensive of these prospects.

From the trailer ‘The Pauly D Project’ seems to be a study in bros. Pauly and three (or four) hangers on travel to Vegas so Pauly can play songs in clubs. There’s a big, fat guy whose girlfriend is way too hot for him and another who at some point gets mad and leaves. All in all it will be exactly what you expect, just without Sitch or Snooki and while a year ago that may have seemed like a non starter, these days I think everyone will be happy to be rid of them. I’m sure it will do well as most people seem to like Pauly the most, but to my that’s like asking “whose your favorite serial killer?” They all suck, but usually the one with the most personality wins out.

Me? I’m more exciting for the Demi Lovato documentary.
