This is the last of five Twilight films to come to Comic-Con. And the room felt like it. There was a little bit of sadness, a little bit of relief, some adorable and/or awkward fan questions, and lots of excitement to see the FIRST SEVEN MINUTES OF THE FILM. Yep, they showed us Bella as a vampire and it was actually pretty awesome. (That’s coming from someone jaded too.) Here’s our blow by blow of the panel for your information, amusement and enjoyment.

Eric Moro moderated the panel again and began paying tribute to Gisela, the woman who was struck and killed by a car a couple of days ago while getting in line for this panel.

After paying his respects he went right in to introducing Taylor Lautner, Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart. She got the biggest cheer, but the excitement has died down to the point where the cheering stopped before she even got to her chair. Then out came the adorable, beautiful Mackenzie Foy, who plays Edward and Bella’s daughter Renesme in the film. Kristen seems protective or maternal towards her, which is really sweet. Stephenie Meyer is in attendance without director Bill Condon, but he recorded a video message form London. He tells us he’s there scoring the film and that it rains more in London than in Forks. Then he tells us he wants to do something different and special for the audience because Twilight really exploded at Comic-Con and this is the last one. And then he tells us we get to see the first seven minutes. What? OKAY!

Here’s the rundown of the first seven minutes of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2:
Bella’s eyes are open. We see from her vantage point that she can see everything. And she can focus in on the most minute detail as close or as far away as she likes. She sees Edward, standing in the doorway. He holds his hand out to her. She looks at her own hand and puts her hand in his. (They cheat the wedding ring thing and put it on her right finger, cheaters!) they have a sexy hands sliding up arms movement. His hand gets to her face, she smells it. He says she is ’so beautiful.’ And that they’re the same temperature now. They go to the mirror to see her from head to toe. She is strong, has lovely posture, she is happy with how she looks now, no more insecure Bella. Their eyes lock in the mirror and she turns to hug him, but doesn’t know her own strength. She doesn’t realize the hug hurts him, but we see he’s really uncomfortable because she’s so strong. Funny moment. He says ‘it’s your turn now to break me.’ She pulls him to her by his hips, complete with stones being moved and crashing together sound effect, they kiss. She remembers the baby…she wants to see her. He says she needs to get her thirst under control first. She becomes aware of her flaming, thirsting throat – cut to them running in the woods. She sees everything in normal speed as if she’s in slow motion – a flower looming, a spider in a web – Edward tries to outrun her, does a big leap, then she leaps over a huge waterfall and we see them from above, very tiny, very fast vampire Barbies running along the ridge of the top of a mountain. (They look kind of ridiculous…hence the Barbie reference.) They stop at the peak of one mountain, Edward tells her to close her eyes, asks what she hears – owl, squirrel, deer – her eyes open, the deer looks up in surprise, she crawls slowly towards it like a hunter. (Kristen is doing a really good job being a strong vampire by the way, no more vulnerable parts for her, strong is the way to go!) She looks at Edward , he nods for her to go. The wind shifts she smells a human, a mountain climber who has a skinned knee just one mountain away. Edwards tells her not to go, but it’s too late. She scales the wall (in her blue, skin tight dress) to go after him. Edward is there, she realizes what’s happening. He didn’t thing any humans would be so close. He offers his help. She jumps off a cliff (like a super serious, super high cliff), goes back to the deer, sees a mountain lion who is going after the deer, then BLAM she takes down the mountain lion. Cut to them casually walking back into the Cullen clan yard. Edward tells her she ran away from a human mid-hunt which was super-impressive because even mature vampires humans trouble in that situation. A cheerful, more carefree Jacob comes out of the house. He didn’t expect her to look so normal, not counting the eyes. Bella says he should stay back. Jacob says that it’s safer for the baby to see how you he does with him first. Edward gives him a knowing and super-annoyed look. Bella ask, ’since when do you care about Renesme?’ And then leans in to smell him. And she says she can see what everyone’s been talking about. Jacob bounds towards the house since all is safe. Bella and Edward walk towards the house and END SCENE.

EVERYONE is disappointed it ended. EVERYONE is excited to see that Bella is no longer a shivering, weak, insecure human. Kristen is better being strong.

On to questions from panel host Eric Moro – I am not going to include any response that includes how grateful they are to have been a part of this, how awesome the fans are, how the ends is bittersweet. We’ve all heard this SO much we can bypass it, agreed?:
Stephenie is asked how it is to be at the end of this. She is looking forward to have everyone see Lristen as vampire Bella.

Kristen is asked about her transformation into a vampire. She was excited to break in the new car and see how fast it would go. Everything else, aside from saying Twilight vampires aren’t like other vampires was mostly incoherent.

Rob is asked about how it is to have Edward be the same as Bella now and how he approached having them be equal. Rob says Edward is constantly being surprised by Bella in the previous four movies and now that they’re the same creature he’s even more surprised. He has even less understanding of her.

Taylor is asked how jacob came to terms with Bella as a vampire. This film is great for him because in past films the goal was always to win Bella’s heart and there was always a lot of agony that went along with it. For this one a weight has been lifted off his shoulders, he is less dramatic, more happy. He praised Kristen for her ability to completely shift gears and totally pull of vampire Bella.

Mackenzie is asked about her favorite memory. She adorably says they played hand games, they talked. Kristen chimes in to Mackenzie ‘deep conversations.’ Mackenzie thinks all her memories are pretty cool. Kristen says she’s way cooler.

Then they give us ANOTHER CLIP. WHAT? WOOT. StephMey is asked to set it up, but she has no idea. But Kristen does! It’s the Cullen’s prepping her to have Charlie come over. They have to teach her how to be human.

The Scene:
She’s putting in contacts, Carlisle, Esme and Alice try to explain how to sit in a chair, cross her legs. Bella tries, but ends up pushing the chair back to wall, then funnily crosses her legs. Then all the Cullens are there telling her to blink at least three times a minute. She blinks really fast, also funny. To move her shoulders so it looks like she’s breathing, she tries, success! She shouldn’t sit so straight, she hunches over. Cute scene!

Then the Cullen clan comes out Peter Facinelli, Elisabeth Reaser, Nikki Reed, Kellan Lutz, Ashley Greene, Jackson Rathbone and they all seem slightly weirded that people aren’t screaming as much. Or that it’s bittersweet because this is their last one.

What’s your favorite memory from the journey?
Peter – It’s a blur, the cast is family, the fans are amazing.
Kristen yells at someone for talking on their phone.
Elisabeth – the first movie was the most fun and wild and unselfconscious and scary and weird b/c how does one play a vampire? She remembers a scene that cut out of the movie Carlisle and Esme have a “make out sesh” (doesn’t she know that gossip sites are talking about her being all over him last night at a party?)
Nikki – She can’t pick one specific event from the films, she’s too close to it , and she’s really sensitive because it’s coming to an end. She looks at Jackson and says they’ve gone through something cool together in the last year (her getting married, jackson having a baby). She’s very emotional and sweet.
Kellan – he breaks the tension by making a crack about kissing Nikki, she says something about her husband being there.
Jackson – (girls are loving him today) His favorite moment was finally get to play Jasper before he got turned, playing the Civil War scene. He says this is his first Comic-Con. We’ve always wondered where he’s been. WHERE HAS HE BEEN ALL THESE YEAR.

TIME FOR FAN QUESTIONS:
If you were to attend Comic-Con for fun what villain would you dress as? Kristen would dress up as the Evil Queen in snow white. Robert wants to “dresss up as one of you guys…wait, you’re not villains, what am i talking about?” He’d like to dress up as ZOD.

Will there be anything made from Edwards point of view? NOPE. Stephenie’s been with vampires for 10 years and going back into that world, BUT…she really likes her new idea and is going to pursue it (what new idea?! WHAT NEW IDEA?!!).

Was there any scene that you filmed that didn’t make it into the film that you wish was in? Nikki says she shot a scene with Taylor where he had to throw a dog bowl at her and hit her in the head. Taylor says he also hit the camera man in the groin once, and that he definitely nailed in the head and she kept saying ‘you got food in my hair!’

Question from the most adorable of adorable little girls: Kristen, did you enjoy playing a vampire? She laughs in the middle of asking and she’s so cute the room erupts in laughter. Kristen is charmed and says ‘Yeah, it was fun’ in a way that made everyone laugh. They she breaks it down in kid terms, it’s like getting something you’ve had to wait a long time for, like Christmas morning. Kristen Stewart should only play strong characters and she should only interact with children. She excels in these areas.

Question for Rob: If your character in BD Pt 2 could give your character in Twilight advice, what would it be? Rob says, and I quote ‘KEEP IT IN YOUR PANTS.’ Eeveryone laughs. Then says ‘Sometimes i forget there’s an audience at these things.’ Taylor points out the note on their name plates that says they should keep it family friendly. He shifts to talking about wigs. And tells us that there were some reshoots recently and he actually had to wear a wig for the first time in the whole 5 films. TRIVIA! IMDB THAT!

What were your favorite scenes to film:
Kristen loved the hunt, the one where she kills the mountain lion.
Taylor loved the scene where Jacob has to tell Bella that he imprinted. She says it was so much fun, he says it’s hilarious. Apparently they didn’t have that much space to shoot the scene, so she only threw him 20 FEET. I’m glad for all the humor in this film.
Mackenzie says her favorite was riding “Jacob wolf” and that she lost a tooth. Kristen notices that her tooth grew back in and Mackenzie adorably says ”yeah, I’ve got big girl teeth now.’

What was the most challenging thing?
THE CONTACTS. Everyone agrees. Then Jackson says that sometimes a lens would droop and people would like the vertical version of cross-eyed.

Another cute little girl asks a silly question, then Jackson asks how she got so cute, she runs away.

Kellan shouts a shocked WHAT?! We all laugh.

THEN, GUESS WHAT? It’s not over. They bring out a billion vampires!

Then we think it’s over, but IT IS NOT OVER! At least not for Stephenie Meyer. She and director Andrew Nicol have some footage from THE HOST. WOOT.

Here’s the breakdown of The Host footage:
We open on The Host graphics. Saoirse Ronan who plays Melanie is running up some stairs, being chased by Diane Kruger aka The Seeker, who has alien eyes. Melanie jumps through window, falls down to ground several stories. She wakes up in a hospital-like setting and now she has alien eyes because she’s been implanted. (What’s with Stephanie and making people we are terrible contacts?) She is asked what she should be called. She says Wanderer. The Seeker explains that almost every human has been successfully occupied, but that there are pockets of resistance. The Wanderer immediately understands that they wander to locate her host’s memories to locate can locate other rebels. Ask she’s giving the information that her host is Melanie Stryder we see flashbacks to her skateboarding down a country road being pulled by a dog. She’s from Louisiana. We see a shot of Melanie with a younger boy. Melanie’s voice breaks through to Wanderer’s thoughts and tells her not to tell. She tells anyway. Melanie and her brother went on the run after their father was almost caught and he killed himself to prevent it. She met a boy. We see them dancing and the brother is there, it begins to rain, they run to the house, the boy runs inside, they kiss in the rain. Max Irons is hot.

Then we cut to a few scenes showing Wanderer driving in a car, then blindfolded and guided up a desert hillside, then in a tunneled hole in a underground cave system. The boy from before is guarding her outside. Some guys come to try to kill her, he prevents them. She doesn’t want him hurt and throws herself in the fray. One guy is strangling her until an older guy shoots off a shotgun and says that they’re all guests including Wanderer.

Then we cut to some sort of showdown scene where 2 rebels are in a truck being chased by silver helicopters, silver cars, silver motorcycles. There’s another truck with two more rebel guys who are watching and waiting. The guys have no luck with shooting their way out and are cornered. They drive as fast as they can straight towards a barrier. End scene.

Saoirse Ronan is a hell of an actress, so I’ll definitely be eager to see this one.

And like an Olympic relay race…the Twilight baton was passed to the Host.

I gotta say though, at this very moment I’m most excited to see Breaking Dawn Part 2. BRING IT NOVEMBER! LET’S GO!
