A couple of months ago we reported on the news that The Hunger Games DVD, Blu-ray, and digital download would drop in August. While the date is only a few weeks away, we’ve got a trailer for the bonus features to tide us over until then.

In this trailer we get to see some of the bonus features that will be on the DVD / Blu-ray discs. One big item appears to be the 3-hour behind-the-scenes experience that includes the cast talking about getting cast in their roles, and the training involved in preparing for the movie. There’s a section on special effects info, including a look at how some of the CGI was pulled off. This much bonus material definitely adds to the value of the DVD / Blu-ray release, not that Hunger Games fans need any other incentive to make this purchase part of their home collection. The DVD and Blu-ray are currently available for pre-order. Both sets consist of two discs and include a digital copy. The Hunger Games DVD, Blu-ray, and digital download formats will be available for purchase at retailers at midnight on August 18th, 2012. The question is, will you be in line to get one when they come out?

The second film in the series, Catching Fire, will hit theaters November 22nd, 2013. The final chapter of the trilogy will be released in two parts, with Mockingjay Part 1 slated for a November 21st, 2014, with Part 2 following on November 20th, 2015.
