Looks like Rock of Ages is kickstarting a few more music-based movies into production. Deadline reports that “The Voice” judge Adam Levine has scored a lead role in a new movie called Can A Song Save Your Life, in which he’ll star opposite Keira Knightley and everyone’s new favorite Avenger, Mark Ruffalo. Get the details below.
.
Levine has already been cast in the second season of the FX series “American Horror Story,” and now the Maroon 5 frontman will have to juggle that with his “Voice” duties and fit this movie into the mix as well. Busy, busy, busy. In the film, Knightley and Levine play lovers who move to New York City to make it big as singers, but when he dumps her for the spotlight and a solo career, she’s discovered singing at a local bar by a down-and-out record producer (Mark Ruffalo).

Sounds like a tale as old as time (and very similar to a subplot in Rock of Ages), and I’m sure with this talented cast, this will be a project worth checking out. It’s going to be directed by John Carney, who directed an independent musical called Once that drew rave reviews a few years back and just won the Tony Award for Best Musical after being converted for the stage last year. We’ll keep you posted on this one for sure.
