August 27, 1990 – Legendary guitarist Stevie Ray Vaughan is killed when the helicopter he is flying in hits a man-made ski slope.
August 27, 1991 – Pearl Jam release their debut album Ten.
August 27, 1994 – Boyz II Men starts a 14-week run at Number One on the singles chart with “I’ll Make Love To You.”

August 25, 2001 – American singer and actress Aaliyah is killed in a plane crash in the Bahamas at age 22.
