It’s nearly Father’s Day and On the Line, a national prostate cancer awareness campaign, is celebrating with their first ever “Big Daddy Awards.” The fan-voted awards will choose between celebrity fathers like President Obama, Jay-Z and Brad Pitt – all in the name of cancer awareness.
.
Fans get to vote online beginning today in 34 categories that encompass film, television, music, comedy and sports to select which dad has it all. You can cast your vote here from today until June 17. And there won’t be just one winner. Nominees include: Brad Pitt is nominated for “Heartthrob Daddy Award,” Jay-Z for “Hip Hop Big Daddy Award,” David Beckham for “Best Dressed Big Daddy Award,” Bono for “Do Gooder Big Daddy Award” and President Obama for “Presidential Candidate Big Daddy Award.”
.
The point isn’t just to determine how well dressed David Beckham is, either. In addition to voting for their favorite “Big Daddy,” fans can show their support by making a donation in honor of their father or a loved one here. Voters are invited to share a Father’s Day family photo in the Big Daddy gallery and to spread the word via their social networks to encourage friends and family to vote and donate. Cancer survivor and Creator/Co-Executive Producer of the FOX Teen Choice Awards Michael Burg said of the awards, “Bringing a touch of entertainment and humor together during a time that celebrates dads is really rewarding. Our ultimate goal is to rally the public to help find a cure for a disease that strikes one out of every six men.”
.
According to the website, “The goal is to find a cure for the disease, which strikes one-out-of every six men in his lifetime. The platform is ‘The Big Daddy Awards,’ the first-ever online awards show designed to honor the 70 million Fathers in America, while raising funds and awareness for prostate cancer programs and research for a cure.”
