Bloc Party – Four (Frenchkiss, August 21)

Bloc Party will release their first full-length since 2008’s Intimacy this summer. In response to rumors that the band had actually broken up lead singer Kele Okereke wrote on his blog, “i did what i always try to do to make sense of the world, i started writing lyrics and something became clear to me, i needed to put my band back together, i missed my friends. even though i had made a record by myself i missed the way that my band worked, how little improvisations and suggestions would then go on to spark other ideas in me like wildfire. being in bloc party always forced me to think on my feet.” Watch a teaser video for the album below:

Matthew Dear – Beams (Ghostly International, August 28)
.
.
Matthew Dear will release a new album this summer. The disc, recorded Dear’s home studio and mixed at Nicolas Vernhes’ Rare Book Room studios in Brooklyn, will follow his recent EP Headcage, which came out in January. Dear said, “I’m about 4 to 5 different people at any given time. By allowing all of those different personalities to exist – the most pure and direct self can come through in the music. [The songs] may still be cryptic, and full of contradictions – but in my opinion, that is pure, unadulterated thought in musical form. They are direct lines to the center.”
.
1. Her Fantasy
2. Earthforms
3. Headcage
4. Fighting Is Futile
5. Up & Out
6. Overtime
7. Get The Rhyme Right
