The Strokes are apparently getting along now — at least enough to begin planning for their next album. The group also announced they will be touring intensively in the fall following their many festival stops this summer.
.
Bassist Nikolai Fraiture told Rolling Stone the group is planning “a very long tour this fall.” Albert Hammond Jr. added that the band plans to tour in the U.S. after their European jaunt, saying, “You’re wondering about America, as are we. It seems like something is lining itself up, but it’s hard to tell right now what exactly we’re going to do. We all want to do it, so we’re gonna find a way.”
.
As for why they want to start working on a new disc so soon after releasing this year’s Angles? “We’re trying not to lose momentum by taking time off and then having to reboot the whole system,” Fraiture said. “Hopefully, we keep that up.”
.

The new writing and recording sessions are reportedly going better than those on Angles, which it sounds like were fraught with tension between band members. Fraiture added, “It’s been feeling really good. We’re kind of doing the same thing as the last record— we’re bringing in parts and ideas and kind of just working on those and trying to make sense of them, coming from five different people.” As for a release date? “If we could do it tomorrow, that’d be great,” Fraiture said. “But yeah, as soon as possible I think.”
