Fleet Foxes- Helplessness Blues– Frontman Robin Pecknold battled for months, perfecting each track, harmony and refrain on the Seattle indie-folk troupe’s second effort. The result was worth the struggle: The Foxes’ sophomore release calls to mind lush CSNY harmonies, replete with the Beach Boys’ sense of song-structure and shape. An instant gem.

Jennifer Lopez- Love?– She may be getting more love these days for her current stint as an American Idol judge, but JLo is a natural-born songstress.
