Featured Album Releases:
R.E.M.- Collapse Into Now — The fifteenth studio album from the legendary rockers, and their last record for Warner, their label since the late Eighties, has been touted by guitarist Peter Buck as ’song for song, the best thing we’ve ever done.” As they approach their third decade as a band, Michael Stipe and co. appear to be in fine form.
.
Ellie Goulding– Lights — This U.K. electropop wonder, drawing comparisons to fellow Brits La Roux and Little Boots, has already conquered her native land, having debuted at Number One, and now lands Stateside with her debut LP. It’s also worth noting that the first song Goulding ever wrote, “Wish I Stayed”, is featured on the album.
.
Defeater- Empty Days & Sleepless Nights — The sophomore double-LP from this Massachusetts hardcore unit is a concept record that follows a fictional family set in post-WWII, working class New Jersey. And it showcases a unique duality for the band: the first side features 10 dark, invigorating hardcore songs while the second disc features four cathartic acoustic cuts.
.
Raekwon- Shaolin vs. Wu-Tang — Aside from being a member of one of the most lauded hip-hop crews in history, Raekwon has evolved as a premier solo MC. In 2009 he dropped the follow-up to his brilliant ‘95 debut, Only Built For Cuban Linx…, to have it be touted as one of the year’s finest. Now he’s back with arguably his most highly-anticipated LP to date.
