Kiss and Motley Crue have announced they will be donating funds to help those affected by the recent shooting in Aurora, CO. The bands revealed at their show in Denver on Wednesday night that they will jointly offer up $100,000 to the Aurora Victim Relief Fund. To which we say: Bravo!
.

The Aurora Victim Relief Fund has been set up to help victims and families who were hurt during a tragic shooting at a midnight showing of The Dark Knight Rises where 12 people were killed and 58 were injured. Nikki Sixx of Motley Crue and Paul Stanley of Kiss said in a written statement that they hope this donation encourages others to give as well.
.

Sixx said, “Following the heartbreaking news of the senseless shootings in Colorado we wanted to do something to help the families and victims. We bonded together with our tour partners and friends Kiss to donate money, but we also hope it inspires others to do the same, no matter how big or small.” Stanley added, “The terror these innocent victims of the Aurora massacre must have experienced and the profound loss their families now face is unimaginable. We hope that our small gesture helps inspire others to band together in compassion and financial support for all involved in this unspeakable tragedy.”
.

Kiss and Motley Crue are not the first musicians to offer financial support to the victims, although this is the grandest donations we’ve heard about. Last month Reel Big Fish donated the proceeds from their show in Aspen, CO to The Colorado Organization for Victim Assistance and the band’s booking agency, The Agency Group, followed suit. The band wrote, “All our love goes out to the people of Denver in this time of sorrow. Music and dancing is good medicine. Be with friends and boogie!”

We’re glad to see musicians doing what they can to help. For more information on the Aurora Victim Relief Fund go here.
