Record sales only mean so much. To be a true pop-culture icon, there is only one true rite of passage: a guest appearance on The Simpsons. Yup, as you may have guessed, Justin Bieber will join the ranks of Michael Jackson, Paul McCartney, U2 and various other music legends when he becomes animated on the legendary cartoon.

Yesterday Bieber tweeted “just did a voice over for the SIMPSONS!!! #swaggy” and even though the tweet has since been deleted, Simpsons executive producer Al Jean confirmed to Entertainment Weekly that Bieber will play himself in an upcoming episode of the show titled “The Fabulous Faker Boy.”

As usual, Jean was tight-lipped about the plot, but he did joke, “It’s a cameo but all of [Bieber's] fans should watch every minute of the show, before and after he’s on.” The episode will air in 2013 as part of The Simpsons’ 24th season, which debuts in late September. Go ahead and set your DVR now so that you don’t forget.
