One of the highlights of last night’s MTV Movie Awards was when Johnny Depp received the Generation Award from Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler and Joe Perry. Oh and did we mention that right beforehand the actor performed a song with The Black Keys?
.
That’s right Depp joined the Black Keys onstage to perform an impassioned version of “Gold On The Ceiling” and moments later while he still had a guitar strapped around his neck he received the award that has been given to everyone to everyone from Tom Cruise to Clint Eastwood.
.
“Steven just spit out one of my teeth,” Depp said in his acceptance speech. “I’ll put it back in later. I gotta thank MTV for this—it’s quite an amazing honor. It’s like the Get Out of the Business Award, basically—it’s like, OK you’ve done too much. And clearly, based on the clips, there’s obviously something wrong with me. I just want to thank you very much. It’s an honor to be presented by these two legends and these two up and coming legends.”
.
We couldn’t agree more and if you have your doubts check out the impassioned version of The Black Keys’ “Lonely Boy” the band launched into after his speech.
