It seems like every time we turn around there’s another leaked Lana Del Rey song and the latest suspect is “Backfire,” although we’re not sure if it’s really old or brand new. Regardless, it sounds pretty good to us.

The track sees Del Rey singing about how “we’ve got a jumper” over a spacey background of lap steel guitar, electronica flourishes and an understated beat that eeps the emphasis on Del Rey’s instantly recognizable vocals. Love her or not, you’ve got to admit you’re not going to mistake her from anyone else.

Of course there’s a good chance that “Backfire” will appear on Del Rey’s re-issue of Born To Die which is due out in November and will include seven new songs and will be known as the “Paradise Edition” of the disc. Hey, at least it’s something to tide us over until she releases her next proper album, right?
