David Pajo exits Interpol
Posted 2/28/2011

.

If you thought having Slint/Zwan guitarist David Pajo as the touring bassist for Interpol was too good to be true, you were right: Yesterday Interpol posted on their site that Pajo would no longer be touring with the band. “New personnel change: Dave Pajo is tagging out, folks,” the post read. “Dave has decided to step out of the spotlight for a spell, and will no longer be touring with Interpol. We’re all friends. It’s just an Out-of-the-hotel, Into-the-home sorta thing. He’s going to be missed to be sure.”

.

The band went on to report that journeyman Brad Truax would be taking over for Pajo. “Brad is the man,” the post continued. “His musical résumé includes work with a horde of awesome bands: Home, Soldiers of Fortune, Gang Gang Dance, The Broke Revue, Animal Collective, Cass McCombs, White Magic…He’s got taste and he’s got chops. And that’s what we want.” Interpol’s first show with Truax will be in Hamburg, Germany, on March 3rd.

.

Pajo posted his own statement on the site, outlining his departure.“I would like to announce that I will no longer be performing live with Interpol on their upcoming campaign,” Pajo said. “I’ll be taking a break from touring to focus on family. There are no personal, artistic or health reasons—it’s really as simple as that! I feel a tremendous amount of love and respect for everyone involved and will genuinely miss them. I will continue to record and perform music, with bands as well as solo, I just won’t be touring as much. ”

.

Interpol released a self-titled album last year– their fourth overall, and last with original bassist Carlos Dengler who departed in May 2010.
